Safe Mode

nCourage is an anti-human sex trafficking hub located in Peel region. When they asked us to design their website, one of the key features they asked for was an ‘escape mode’ that took users to the weather network if they felt they were being spied upon by an abuser. We realized that this sudden jump would be too jarring, and would alert an already suspicious person.

In response to this, we created a ‘safe mode’ version of the website. If a user presses the safe mode button, the site immediately switches to a totally different website, looking exactly the same with only the copy being different.

With the touch of a button, nCourage becomes Courage Clothing, a sustainable fashion brand.

We created a quiz to identify if someone you know could be a victim of human sex trafficking, we also created a fake quiz for the safe site.

Finally, we developed an actual clothing line that symbolized nCourage. The clothing would have two versions, a front facing style that simply had the nCourage branding, and a second version with the revealed hidden messaging that people could choose to switch to, which would proudly proclaim the fact that human beings are not for sale.
