Be a part of something small While at The Hive, I wrote and co-directed this investor video for Our Home and Miniature Land (a Toronto attraction that lets you visit both coasts of Canada in under an hour). Not only did they love my tagline so much they put it on t-shirts, but more importantly, the video helped fully fund their Frontfundr campaign (
$715,500 of their
$500,000 goal) and to this day, is still the first thing they present at conferences.
I also pitched a rebrand from OHML to Little Canada, something I felt better encapsulated the feeling of the Rocky Mountains and the Bay of Fundy only being 50 feet apart. They agreed and changed the name.
Along with the branding, we also offered a host of other opportunities: everything from partnering with Tim Horton’s and selling mini mini double double’s, to genuine microbrews (pint sized pints), to tiny microchips at the snack shop. We even suggested renting costumes at the door (like Godzilla and King Kong) to capitalize on the fact that the place is basically a utopia for shareable social content.
